Proverbs 13 - 15; Romans 11

Proverbs 13: 22 A good life gets passed on to the grandchildren;ill-gotten wealth ends up with good people.

Wanting pretty badly to have my Grandchildren KNOW Christ from a young age, without really having legs to that other than good life to me = knowing Christ, not easy, without pain or difficulty BUT GOOD..…. Wanting them to early on find out what a wrestling match FAITH is. Wanting them to discover that His thoughts are far better than getting caught up in obsessive thought patterns that crash against His. Wanting them to know His love is even better than that of parents and grandparents….and that THAT LOVE will guide them to loving others. That to me is a good life. I don’t know much BUT what I do know makes me want this for them badly.

Proverbs 14: 25 Souls are saved by truthful witness and betrayed by the spread of lies. 26 The Fear-of-God builds up confidence, and makes a world safe for your children. 27 The Fear-of-God is a spring of living water so you won't go off drinking from poisoned wells.

Proverbs 15: 16 A simple life in the Fear-of-God is better than a rich life with a ton of headaches.

23 Congenial conversation—what a pleasure! The right word at the right time—beautiful!

32 An undisciplined, self-willed life is puny; an obedient, God-willed life is spacious. 33 Fear-of-God is a school in skilled living— first you learn humility, then you experience glory.

I love proverbs….they give me much to wrestle with :), ponder and aspire to.

Romans 11: 2-6Do you remember that time Elijah was agonizing over this same Israel and cried out in prayer? God, they murdered your prophets, They trashed your altars; I'm the only one left and now they're after me! And do you remember God's answer? I still have seven thousand who haven't quit, Seven thousand who are loyal to the finish.
It's the same today. There's a fiercely loyal minority still—not many, perhaps, but probably more than you think. They're holding on, not because of what they think they're going to get out of it, but because they're convinced of God's grace and purpose in choosing them. If they were only thinking of their own immediate self-interest, they would have left long ago.

There is A LOT more in Romans but I’m going to take all these today and really just sink into 'em. Please let me know what gets you when you read and really let God speak to you…I would love to hear where you are at and going.

God's grace and purpose...
Interesting you should talk about these things in the last couple of days. Tonight I heard Will Graham (grandson of Billy Graham) talk on such things. I think one aspect of God's grace is His sustaining power to see us through, to be one of those 7000. So we keep plugging along because of God's presence that we don't deserve and His purpose for us.

Aspirations for the here and now:

  • Ask way more questions than offer answers.
  • Be more spontaneous and outrageous, loving with an abandon that isn't about me.
  • Be who I am even if she is crazy and weird
  • Do a good deed for a stranger
  • Don't be afraid to dream
  • Enjoy more sunrises.
  • Enjoy my husband and family.
  • Everyone has a story, listen to them.
  • Find a dreaming friend
  • Go on a picnic with Dan
  • Go snorkeling again.
  • Hear You
  • Help someone
  • Hike/walk regularly
  • Learn to live more and more SIMPLE
  • Learn to live without 'blinking'
  • Learn to love, really love
  • Learn to say I'm sorry w/o a 'but'
  • Learn to, strive to, be 'other' centered
  • Learn what it is to BE a friend
  • Lose 20 more pounds and take another trip to LA
  • Love, love, love on my Grandkids
  • Make a new friend
  • Read MORE books, make the time to read
  • Take alot of photos and learn how to take better ones and share better the ones I take.
