1 Chronicles 16; Psalm 106; Matthew 19
Psalm 16: 15 (NIV)So he gave them what they asked for,
but sent a wasting disease upon them.
(msg) He gave them exactly what they asked for—
but along with it they got an empty heart.
v 36 They worshiped their idols,
which became a snare to them.

Can't help in the reading of this to think of CS Lewis' quote..'we are far too easily satisfied'.....wasting away in satisfaction, in the drive to satisfy ourselves....???....

I was just thinking about this today in light of Jesus' "Ask it shall be given to you..." passage in Matthew. The Greek irony is 'we don't get what we want', but Christian irony is that we reap as we sow.

The Weight of Glory is my favorite Lewis book. Our snare is our low expectations ...
